Salesforce made a change recently that was unannounced in a plain way and was ambiguous, so I have created a relatively simple process for setting up a passkey for Salesforce admins to create and use Passkey to log into Salesforce.  This is unfortunately required, but should only take a few minutes to set up.

The easiest and best option:  Google passkey

You will need to use Google Chrome for this method.

Setup Steps
    • Go to Google Passkeys Setup on your phone, tablet, or computer.
    • Sign in to your google account and type your normal username and password if asked
    • On your computer, open Chrome.
    • At the top right, select Profile Profile and then Sign in to Chrome.
    • Enter your sign-in info.
    • Select Next.
    • Click or tap Create a passkey.
    • Confirm by creating a 6 digit PIN when your device asks for
    • Log into Salesforce in Chrome while you are logged into your google account, and it will recognize the passkey you created
