This article describes how to permanently move e-mail items out of one Exchange mailbox into another, reassigning ownership to the new mailbox. This assumes you will be using Outlook to perform these actions, and that the mailbox you are moving the items to is your own.
- Make sure you have access to the source mailbox.
- The source mailbox (that has the mail items now) should be visible on the left-hand side of your Outlook profile.
- If you do not see the intended mailbox, please put in a ticket to request access to the mailbox at https://support.park.edu
- Identify the folder in the destination mailbox (your mailbox) you will be copying to, or create a new one
- In the Source mailbox, select the mail items you wish to move
- You cannot move the folder, you must move the individual items
- Press Ctrl + Click to select multiple specific emails, or Ctrl + A to select an entire folder
- Drag the selected items from the source mailbox and drop them directly into the target folder of the destination mailbox
- This process can take a lengthy amount of time, and there is not a progress bar to tell you it's happening
- The move will be happening in the background as long as Outlook is open, just let it go while you continue working
- All mail items will be relocated to the destination mailbox permanently; no copies will be left behind
